Printing with the 635 QuickBERT-T1

It can only be done with the 635A version. The 635 will have software revision 2,0 and there will be a 9 pin male serial connector on the top of the unit. The tester can print test results and setup information automatically or on demand (when you press the PRINT key). This article shows you how to set up the tester to enable automatic printing or manual printing of test results.

Hinweis: The 635 QuickBERT-T1 has dynamic memory. This means all data will be lost when the unit is powered off or removed from the circuit under test.
 
There are two methods for printing a report with the 635 QuickBERT-T1. 
  • Printing to a printer.
  • Printing to a Hyper Terminal.

Printing to a Printer
  • Using the supplied RS-232 cable, connect one end to the tester and the other end to a printer.
  • Press the MODE key once to display the following screen:

  • Press the RESULTS _ key twice to display this screen:

    Print is blinking to indicate that it is selected.
     
  • Press the SIGNALING TYPE (Setup) key. The Setup Print screen is displayed. The current setting for Mode is blinking: 
     

    Setup Print:

    Mode: Norm Baud: 19,2

    This screen lists the two setup parameters for printing: Mode and Baud.
     
    a)      Mode has two settings.
                          i.            Norm: (for manual printing) prints only when you press the PRINT key.
     
                         ii.            Auto: (for automatic printing) prints automatically when the tester detects an error or alarm condition (bit error, BPV error, Frame error or CRC error).
     
    Hinweis: If Auto is selected, you can also press the PRINT key to print results.
     
    b)       Baud has four settings: 2,4, 4,8, 9,6, and 19,2.
     
  • To change the settings for "Mode" and "Baud", do the following:
     
    a)       Press the RESULTS _ key to select the desired setting for "Mode." The setting blinks to indicate that it is selected.
    b)       Press the SIGNALING TYPE (Tab) key to move to Baud. Then, press the RESULTS _ key until the desired setting is displayed.
    c)       Press the MODE (Done) key to save your selections. As you return to the second page of the setup menu, Print will be blinking.
     
  • Press the MODE (Done) key to exit the setup menu. You can print at any time by pressing the PRINT key. However, if Auto is selected, the tester will automatically print a report if it detects an error or an alarm.
     


Printing to a Hyper Terminal

  • Using the supplied RS-232 cable, connect one end to the tester and the other end of the serial cable to your Serial COM port connection on a PC.
  • Follow the 635 QuickBERT-T1 set from above.
  • Open a Hyper terminal session on the PC. The most common path to Hyper Terminal: Start/Program Files/Accessories/Communications/Hyper Terminal. 
  • Name your HyperTerminal session and choose the COM port that the Serial cable is connected to.
     

     
  •  Change the Baud rate to match the settings on the 635 QuickBERT-T1 and press OK.
     

     
  • You can print at any time by pressing the PRINT key. However, if Auto is selected, the tester will automatically print a report if it detects an error or an alarm.
